Notes:  The Impartial History. . . , first published in England in 1780, was republished in Boston the following year with new portrait engravings, including this one. prepared by John Norman.  Unfortunately, Norman's work was not well-received.  One writer commented, "The expense of copper plates . . . might be spared unless they could be executed in a different stile from those in the history of the American War, printed at Boston in 1781 and 82."  (Freeman's Journal, 16 January 1795. quoted in Wick, p. 88).
