Baptismal Font

Asolo (Treviso); Cathedral

The baptismal font in the Cathedral at Asolo was executed, 1491, by Francesco Grazioli at the commission of Queen Caterina Cornaro (B-31) after she had ceded the Kingdom of Cyprus to Venice and retired to the Asolo area.

The decorative carved band on the font includes portrayals of the crest of the Lusignan royal house of Cyprus and of the sword and ribbons of the Order of the Sword.
