Cornaro di S. Cassiano Chapel

Venice (S. Croce); S. Maria Mater Domini, left aisle

The Cornaro di S. Cassiano Chapel is on the left aisle of the Church of S. Maria Mater Domini, near Ca' Cornaro della Regina, the family palace on the Grand Canal that was the residence of Queen Caterina Cornaro (B-31) when she visited Venice from her countryside domain at Asolo.

The chapel was designed by Jacopo Sansovino and executed by Antonio Buora. On the floor are two anonymous gravestones with Cornaro della Regina crowns. One bears the date 1537.
